The Adventures of Missy Sooskeh is a Persian folk tale that is translated, designed and illustrated for children from age 6 years old and up in North America.
The Adventures of Missy Sooskeh shows a female in the Iranian society and her journey to find a true love, one who respects her and doesn’t try to dominate her. It also shows that an Iranian woman has the right to make her own decisions and live independently.
By bringing this folk tale to North America, my goal was to overcome some of the stereotypes from incorrect translations and getting wrong messages from the story. It also points out about marriage in Iran, which in North America it is known very restricted. However, it all depends on the family and their beliefs.
